Vocation needs to be seen as a journey and the symbol of the labyrinth has been chosen here to represent that journey.
The labyrinth has long stood as a metaphor for life's journey, combining the sense of unity and purposeful wandering into a complicated and beautiful symbol. A Labyrinth is a path that leads to a central space and then out again by the same path. Unlike a maze that is designed to confuse you and is full of dead ends and obstacles to overcome, a labyrinth is designed for you to find your way with no wrong turns or dead ends.
Exploring vocation is not about arriving at a destination but rather a lifelong journey that you embark upon. Along the journey, we face new possibilities and make choices. It is not a straight path but has many bends and turns. We find that have control over some of the events we meet and no control over other. Often the main choice we have is how we respond to what we meet.

With a labyrinth there is only one choice to be made. The choice is to enter or not. A more passive, receptive mindset is needed. The choice is whether or not to walk a spiritual path.
