How would you resolve these ethical dilemmas?


"I am a carpenter working on a home with an £1m construction budget.  Due to the poor work of the painting subcontractor, an old friend of my bosses, the paint has not properly adhered.

The boss will not inform the home-owner, and we employees were told to avoid making this mistake apparent. Should I risk my job and inform the owner?  Am I an accomplice to an unethical act or just an employee following instructions?"
